The main promoter of this bank is Shri Motilal Firodia, Dr. Mr. V. Nisal, M. P. Bora, C.K. Patil, L. B. Patil, V. D. Moosmade, J. V. Bankar, H.T. Shelke, K. V. Rohmare, Raosaheb, K. N. Dhanwate, H.K. Kale, P. J. Ambre and Hon. S. Ghule Patil submitted the proposal for registration of this bank on 3rd October 1957 as Ahmednagar District Central Co-op. Bank Ltd. Registered No. 24910/1957. The operations of the bank resumed on March 21, 1958 at Deviwada near the City Police Line in Ahmednagar.
On the Date 1. 5. 1958 of this auspicious occasion, the establishment of this bank was announced by Hon’ble Chief Minister Mr. Yashwarawaji Chavan. On the auspicious occasion of 1st May 1959, the entire credit transaction from Shikhar Bank was carried out and transferred to the bank. by auspicious hand of Hon'ble Hon'ble Minister of Co-operation, State of Mumbai Mr. Balasaheb Bharde.
A three-tier approach to agricultural credit was adopted. At the village level, it is the foundation of the Primary Agricultural Credit Institution, while it is the central link between state level Shikhar Sahakari Bank and the District Central Banks.
District Central Co-operative Banks are responsible for the organization, maintenance and credit of agricultural credit institutions in the district as well as credit for the production of agricultural commodities as well as the processing and sale of agricultural commodities. The District Bank acts as the apex body of primary agricultural institutions in the district by overseeing the credit supply in the district
